About Extensions

About My Technique - After months of research trying to decide if I should choose a single strand technique or sewn in technique, I decided to take a class on both.  I'm so glad that I did because it made me very confident with the  sewn in technique that I designed.  The pro's of this sewn in technique are:

-  It’s Affordable! Because it only takes 1-2 hours to apply, the cost goes way down compare to single strand. You save money and your not wasting your day at the salon.  Who has time for that?

- It Doesn’t Shed!  If you have never had single strand done before, you may not be able to appreciate this.  The clients I have that have had the single strand technique say that the amount of shedding is a huge inconvience!  Because you don’t shed, your hair stays thick from the time you get it done, till the time you need it redone with my technique.

- You Can Wear It Up!  You can put your hair up easily without having hundreds of glue pieces showing!  No worries that people will know you have hair extensions!

- It Doesn’t Hurt!  That’s a big plus.  You know the old saying “Beauty is painful?" that just isn't true with my technique.  I will tell you a story about my first extension experience.  When I was deciding what technique to learn.  I experimented with cornrowing.  By the end of my five hour long appointment, I was dripping with sweat in so much pain, thinking to myself "I do not remember labor being this bad".  That's when I decided there was no way I wanted to learn this technique to put on my clients.  It was just to unbelievably painful.  When I got home my husband had to take them out because I was literally throwing up in pain.  This is why I do not want my technique to be confused with cornrows!

- Short Hair Can Have It Too!  Other techniques need to have the natural hair be longer to have it blend well.  Not with this technique!  Luckily the hair can be much shorter and it will still blend because it’s on a line of hair not singles. That way, if you get a bad haircut, you can get hair extensions right away!  You don’t have to wait several more months for your natural hair to grow out.

In comparison, the "Fusion" technique (also referred to as Bonding, Hot Glue Fusion, Cold Bond or Protein Bond) is time consuming and expensive.  The basic idea of this technique is done one of two ways.  Either taking a pinch of your natural hair and a pinch of extensions hair putting bond on it and fusing it together or using a tool similar to a small flat iron to fuse it together.  So, if you can envision that, you would have 200-400 glue (bond) pieces on your head.

This method is more expensive because sometimes it takes up to ten hours to apply.  And it sheds like crazy.  Clients have told me that they shed gobs of hair a day when they wore that technique before they came to me.  Many times you have to go in every 4-6 weeks for a "fill" to get more hair added to make up for what you lost when you shed.  This of course costs more money. It's also hard to conceal in ponytails or other "Up" dos. You'll literally see hundreds of the bond pieces all along your head.  Not good.  I have so many clients that have come to me so FRUSTRATED with dealing with single strand extensions, but not quite ready to give up on extensions.  They love the length that extensions give them.  They came to me hoping that they could be shown an extension technique that they could count on to give them:
-Thickness that won't shed
-Length
-Versitility to wear it up

I am so excited that i was able to provide that service to them!  ALL of these people that used to have single strand extensions tried my technique.  Each and every one of them told me that they would NEVER go back to single strand again.

That is why I feel so confident about my extensions.  Not because I'm trying to sell a product or a teacher of a class I took told me it was good--my clients tell me.  That is who's opinion matters to me the most.

About The Hair – Choosing extension hair can be very frustrating.  A lot of brands will say that they are 100% human hair. But don’t be fooled!  That does not mean it is good quality hair.  There could be a lot of gray hair in your bag and the cuticles may not be aligned.  When the cuticles are aligned, it combs out smoothly and easily.  If the cuticles are not aligned, it’s almost as though you are teasing it when you brush it.  It’s a mess!  It gets matted very easily, and looks puffy and damaged. That’s why I have chosen to use Remi hair.  Remi hair is hand picked so that each cuticle is aligned up and down to ensure that it is tangle free.
